Annual Beach BBQ

This year’s barbecue will be a night to remember! In addition to music, great food and lots of fun, there will be a Wizard of Oz theme!

A Night in OZ is chaired by Trustee Dr. Robert Wiltshire and event co-chairs Doris and Allen Lehman. This evening of fun by the bay will showcase the story of Dorothy and the Ruby Slippers,
her friends the Lion, Tin Man & Scarecrow, Good and Bad Witches, Flying Monkeys, Twisters and let’s not forget Toto too! The imagination and creativity of local artists will be presented in
the Emerald City Silent Auction. The artist’s twists on the iconic images of OZ will be brought to life for all who follow the Yellow Brick Road. The auction will also feature items donated by many local businesses.

The BBQ is Saturday, August 24. Buy tickets here.

Plein Air Brandywine Valley

The Brandywine Valley is full of exquisite properties, from gardens and land preserves to private estates, and this fall artists have the opportunity to paint and photograph them. The Plein Air Brandywine Valley is a competition open to all artists, ages 18 and above, working in pastel, oil acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, and photography. For one week, artists will paint and photograph the selected properties and then their work will be entered in the competition. Each piece will be judged and then displayed for viewing and purchase at The Visitor Center of Winterthur Museum and Garden. A portion of all the art sold will be given to the Children’s Beach House.

Here are two paintings submitted into the competition last year from landscape artist Elissa Gore.
